The Price of a Cow
July 8, 1956 my parents (Clyde Melvin & Lucille Roach) became Mom and Dad to a 8 pounds, 23 inches
long baby girls to add to the two children they already had. Daddy, a saw-mill worker in Prescott, Arkansas, and my
Mother was a mother of two and a house-wife when I was born. Daddy had to sell his only cow (milk cow I think) to pay
the doctor and hospital bills for my birth. Hay! I am worth a old milk cow. Ha! Ha!
Wildcat Road, Prescott Arkansas
We lived on Wildcat Road in Prescott until I was 2 years old where Daddy work at Bailey Saw-Mill there
on Wild Cat Road. When we moved, we moved to a smaller saw-mill town founded by a man name Beirne, which that is what
they named the town (Beirne) 17th miles from Prescott.
Beirne Arkansas
Daddy went to work at the Beirne's Saw-Mill and work there for a lot of years. We didn't stay in
the same house all the time my parents and us kids lived in Beirne, and we moved for a few months to Gurdon, which we moved
back to Berine a few months later. Nancy, the last to be born into our family, was born June 9, 1959. If you are waiting
on me to add the boys to this family, there were not a single boy born into this family of six. Daddy had to put up with 4
daughter. I was consider Daddy's Tom Boy, I was told.

Occupations
The day before I graduated from high school, I went to work at a Holiday Inn in Arkadelphia,
Arkansas as a maid for three years. After that I went to Prescott's Garment Factory hemming pj's bottoms. Left there for Crotty's
Gaskets Plant stripping gaskets for cars, trucks, boats and etc. My title at the Garment Factory was a "hemmer",
and at Crotty's Gaskets Plants was a "Stripper", since I strip the gaskets.
I got married while working at the gasket plant to my first husband. Later on after
baby setting and cleaning house for others, I went to work at a restaurant in Prescott, then onto Exit 44 Truck and Auto Stop
where I was lay off when I was 5 month pregnant with my first child.
After I had my third child, I went to work at Wal-Mart in Texarkana, Arkansas for a year.
I later went to work at Wal-Mart in Texarkana, Texas. Later I went to work at Family Dollar Store in Texarkana, Texas where
I stay for 8 years. I transfer to Hope Arkansas's Family Dollar Store and work there for a year.
January 2000 I went to work at Hardie' at Arkadelphia Arkansas as a biscuit maker
which was more then making biscuit at 4 a.m. in the morning until noon each day. I fix the roast, bacon, salad, and cinnamon
rolls plus wash the pots and pans before I went home at noon. That where I meet my present husband. September 2000 we got
married and I quit work.
That the whole run-down of my work history.
